Preston Poitevint
Preston's fascination with Georgia's history began when he embarked on the Georgia Studies Tour as an 8th grader at West Bainbridge Middle School. That experience led him to develop a deep passion for the rich heritage of our state that he has since loved to share with others. In the classroom, Preston thrived on connecting with students of all levels while helping them grasp the essence of our diverse culture and unique traditions. He is excited to launch the new Teaching Through Travel brand!

Tommy Harrison
Tommy Harrison and the Georgia Studies Tours have been providing educational and exciting opportunities for administrators, teachers, and students to gain valuable hands-on knowledge since 1992. As a Georgia History teacher, Mr. Tommy saw the need to further historical and geographical knowledge and thought what better way to teach Georgia History than to "take" them-- and the Georgia Studies Tour was born! We now take his legacy and expand to new horizons with Teaching Through Travel!

Leigh Powell
Leigh has joined our team as our Marketing & Communications Coordinator! With 13 year of experience, Leigh is a talented educator and tour coordinator! She has been a huge proponent of student travel for middle & high school and has elevated the local trip standard, including those in the performing arts community! As a Georgia Studies Tour participant herself, she is excited to bring her experience and skills to Teaching Through Travel!

Meet Our Tour Directors
Dr. Marie Godwin began her journey with Teaching Through Travel as a classroom educator at Seminole County Middle School. For over a decade, she brought her students on educational tours and saw firsthand how experiential learning deepened classroom engagement. Now serving as Assistant Superintendent for the Seminole County School System, she continues to champion meaningful learning beyond the textbook. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, fishing, doting on her children and grandchildren, and traveling.
Alicia Gordon brings over 30 years of experience as an educator across the state of Georgia. Along the way, she even had the chance to teach current owner Preston Poitevint during his time at West Bainbridge Middle School. Passionate about making history come alive for students, Alicia leads with both energy and heart. When she’s not guiding tours, she enjoys reading, hunting for antiques, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Charla Campbell first experienced Teaching Through Travel while serving as principal of the GEAR program in the Colquitt County School System. She now serves as ESOL Coordinator for the district, continuing her mission to inspire students through innovative learning experiences. When not serving the students of Colquitt County or leading enriching tours at TTT, you can find her relaxing at the beach, reading a good book, or cheering on her beloved Braves and Georgia Bulldogs.
